Sanyu
(Pronounced San-Yoo)
Hey, I’m Sanyu, your NYU Skin Studio skin facialist with a story (and skin) that’s seen it all.
Like many of us, my journey started with hyperpigmentation caused by PCOS and a bathroom shelf full of DIY masks, turmeric mishaps, and every “natural remedy” you could think of.
My sister introduced me to the world of Korean skincare just before lockdown, and let’s just say… I never looked back. Products started working well on my skin, and the results showed less hyperpigmentation, which was one of my biggest skin concerns.
In the last few years, I began travelling the world, and whenever I was in Africa, I noticed how smooth and blemish-free all my relatives were, which made me curious about why their skin looked so healthy, despite not spending hundreds on skin products. Then I realised that whilst Korean products were innovative and great, natural botanicals, eating habits, climate and daily routines all play a part in skin health.
I created NYU Skin Studio, a space that blends Korean science with an appreciation for natural botanical alternatives, daily habits, and routines. It’s personal, professional, and rooted in love. We specialise in facials for all skin types, with a particular focus on melanin-rich skin that’s too often overlooked in mainstream skincare.
My belief? If it’s inclusive to melanin, it’s inclusive to all.
This was my skin over the course of a year, combo, hyperpigmentation and in need of help! I still have my ups and downs with my skin, but with regular treatments and home care, I really don't need to wear foundation anymore.
Get to know me :)
